Lou Gardner and her daughter, Katie, are forced to leave New York and move back in with her contemptible mother. Lou quickly finds employment working at the local records beuilding. As she investigates questions she has about her family, her pursuit of the truth leads her to a terrible dark secret and forces her to face her own past.
